Great post Mike. Too often we hear someone tell us to “think outside the box,” as if we can open a tap and out come a flood of creative ideas. But it’s really a practice that needs attention and development as opposed to a moment’s permission.

I recently saw a TEDx talk by George Land which covers an eye-opening assessment he did to track creativity as we grow up. The difference between unstructured thinking and structured thinking was, at least to me, the main reason we’ve fallen into our current box thinking.
