Good point Gelatologist. I agree that many organizations can, and do, become stagnant within their own status quo mindset. And I have no objection to using it as a metaphor when it applies.

However, in my experience, the more common cause of this degradation is poor management practices and burdensome systems. And giving them an out by blaming human behavior reduces their own responsibility in the matter.
